Where coast meets countryside - On the wild North West Coast of Cornwall, just 5 miles from Devon, Bude is a popular place for families and surfers, and offers a quieter alternative to Newquay. Bude, with its spectacular coastline, has many opportunities for walking, cycling and outdoor activity leisure pursuits alongside more traditional family activities and attractions. The town is a nice friendly place and there are several good beaches.The historic canal (with unique sea-lock) has level towpath which provides good access for the disabled to explore natural scenery and habitats.
Bude is a good base to explore this area of North Cornwall and North West Devon. South of Bude itself lies the historic town of Tintagel, and the legendary Tintagel castle supposedly the birth place of King Arthur.
Inland takes you to the Devon town of Holsworthy and the Tamar Lakes area. while northwards brings you to the rugged cliffs of Hartland Point and on to the picturesque Devon village of Clovelly
